GREAT NECK KITCHEN TRANSFORMATION

Location: Great Neck, Virginia Beach, VA

01. THE PLAN

The homeowners wanted to give their kitchen a refreshed appearance, and the color choices they selected helped set the direction for the transformation.

Rather than changing the entire kitchen, the focus was on the existing cabinetry, bringing in a fresh color that would give the space a more updated and cohesive feel.

02. THE PREP

Before beginning the painting work, the team prepared the kitchen and cabinetry to ensure everything was ready for the new finish.

Protecting the kitchen

The surrounding kitchen surfaces and appliances were carefully covered and protected to prevent paint overspray from reaching areas that weren't being painted. Masking materials and protective coverings were used around the workspace, keeping countertops, appliances and surrounding finishes protected throughout the process.

Preparing the cabinet doors

The cabinet doors and drawer fronts were taken off and separated so they could be prepared and painted individually. This allowed the team to access the different surfaces more easily and achieve a consistent finish across the cabinetry.

Setting up for spray application

The cabinet doors were arranged in a dedicated work area, with protective coverings underneath to keep the surrounding space clean and ready for painting.

03. THE PROCESS

With the kitchen protected and the cabinet components prepared, the team moved on to the painting stage.

Spray application

Rather than relying on a traditional brush-and-roller application, the team used spray equipment to apply the finish to the cabinet doors and surfaces.

Spray application helps achieve a smooth, even appearance across cabinet fronts, particularly around the recessed panels, edges and detailed areas of the doors.

Each section was carefully coated, with attention given to maintaining consistency across the different cabinet components.

Building the new finish

The painting process involved applying the necessary coating layers to create an even, consistent finish. The appropriate primer or base coat, followed by the selected cabinet color, helps establish the final appearance.

04. THE RESULT

The homeowners' choice of deep green brings a beautiful richness to the cabinetry, creating a striking contrast against the light countertops and neutral surroundings.

The refreshed cabinets give the kitchen a more updated and cohesive appearance without requiring a complete replacement of the existing cabinetry.
